St. Patrick's Committee announces 2006 award winners

AGAWAM The Agawam St. Patrick's Committee has recently announced that Kate Leary-Gourde is the winner of the Citizens Award for 2006.

An Agawam native, Leary-Gourde has supported and contributed to the Agawam Committee since it began in 2000.

Most recently, Leary-Gourde has provided an afghan to each Colleen and Court member to all communities who participate in the Holyoke St. Patrick's Parade. Each Afghan has the individuals name and year of her reign.

Leary-Gourde and her husband, Robert Gourde, have three children, daughter Elizabeth and sons Robert and Mathew.

She is currently the vice president Country Squire Furniture and Ensign Coopers Curtains and Gifts. A business she shares with her sister, Martha Trevallion.

Parade Marshall



The Agawam St. Patrick's Committee members have awarded the honor of the 2006 Parade Marshal to Thomas "Tom" Stanton, who will lead the Agawam contingent in the Holyoke St. Patrick's Parade in March.

Stanton joined the Agawam committee in its first year and has designed and worked on all the floats, served for four years as a director of the committee and is the parade liaison to and member of the Holyoke St. Patrick's Committee.

He is originally from the Boston area and settled in Agawam with his wife Lisa and where they are raising their three daughters; Alison, Rebecca and Catherine. Stanton, who is proud of his Irish heritage, truly enjoys his involvement in both the Agawam and Holyoke Committees

Anne Sullivan Award



Abbe McLane received the 2006 "Anne Sullivan Award" presented by the Agawam St. Patrick's Committee. She has been a valuable member of the committee from the groups' inception. She has served as a board member and is a past secretary/clerk of the Agawam Committee.

McLane is an attorney with an office in the Feeding Hills Section of Agawam.

She is married to Lowell McLane and they share their lives with their children Stephanie, Erin and Ryan.

The Anne Sullivan Award is presented each year to a women member of the Agawam St. Patrick's Committee for "going above and beyond the call of duty."
