AGAWAM Donna Viens is a one-year breast cancer survivor.
She has brought together a team of people to participate in a Boston three-day walk to benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. The team includes Donna Viens, Melissa Viens, Linda Conner and Tracey Giard. The walk is 60 miles over the three days and the proceeds go to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure and National Philanthropic Trust. Both foundations help fund important breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment.
To be able to participate in the walk, each team member must raise $2,200. To help raise this money, the team is hosting a fundraiser. The team, called "No Victims," was named after Donna Viens' state of mind during her fight against breast cancer.
"I was not going to be a victim and I do not want there to be any other victims of this disease," Viens said.
The fundraiser will take place on July 19 from 6 p.m. to midnight. It will take place at the Springfield Turnverein at 174 Garden St. "No Victims" is asking for money donations to help cover the costs of the fundraiser. The fundraiser will include dinner, soda and coffee, a DJ and dancing. There will also be a raffle and a cash bar.
Donations are $15 for adults and $10 for children over the age of three. Please contact Donna Viens at 733-1248 to purchase tickets before July 19.
