EASTHAMPTON – Cottage Street in Easthampton is welcoming a new business within the next week.
Olivia Pearl Interiors is ready to make headway in a lively business district.
Kimberly Downey, the owner of Olivia Pearl Interiors, told Reminder Publishing that she expects to be open within the next week. “I’m officially ready to go,” she said. “It’s just a matter of now getting it all set up.”
The goal right now for Downey is to sell home décor, but she is also looking to be a design resource to help customers in their own home spaces. For now though, she plans on focusing on the décor aspect of the business.
The business is named after Downey’s grandmother, who passed of lung cancer seven years ago. A certain percentage of all of her sales will go toward the American Lung Cancer Association. “It was important for me to give back in that way,” said Downey.
She added that Cottage Street immediately felt like the right place to start this business, and the storefront she chose only confirmed her sentiments.
“The more time I spend here, the more I’m realizing that I’ve picked the right place,” she said. “The sense of community; the art and cultural following…It’s just really special.”
According to Downey, this will be her first time running a business like this, so she hopes to meet as many creative artists in the community as possible.
“For me, a home is more than a place, it’s like a feeling you get when you walk in there,” said Downey. “And I hope people feel that way when they come into the store.”
