Monson, Palmer, Ware set to host Veterans Day eventsDate: 11/3/2022 WESTERN MASS. – In observance of Veterans Day on Nov. 11, local communities plan to honor those who served our country by hosting a variety of events.
Monson
Monson Veterans Agent Troy Brin shared that there will be a few happenings in town for Veterans Day. On Nov. 9, there will be a Veterans Appreciation Luncheon at the Monson Senior Center, beginning at 12 p.m. Brin said the luncheon is open to anyone who would like to attend. Attendees are encouraged to call the Senior Center ahead of time, so they have a rough estimate of how many people to expect.
On Nov. 10, there will be a Veterans Day assembly at Granite Valley School. The assembly will start at 9:30 a.m. Brin noted that this is the first Veterans Day assembly since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. The assembly will encompass students doing readings, presentations and introductions, all to last about one hour. Veterans and families are encouraged to attend. Following the assembly, there will be light refreshments in the library.
Lastly, on Veterans Day, Brin will be doing a wreath laying ceremony. At press time, he said there was not a specific time for the ceremony as it is an informal event, however, he predicts that it will be around 12 p.m.
Brin shared that he wants to remind people that Veterans Day is a day of celebration. “[It’s a day] to celebrate people who have served our country and it’s our way to say thank you for your service.”
Palmer
The annual Veterans Day Parade and ceremony for the town of Palmer will take place on Nov. 11 at 10:45 a.m. Jennifer Baker, director of Veterans Services, said the parade will begin at Amvets Post 74 parking lot and end at Hryniewicz Park in Three Rivers for the official ceremony which will start around 11 a.m.
During the parade route and after the ceremony, the Palmer Cub Scouts Pack 164 will be collecting non-perishable goods.

Ware
Ware plans to celebrate Veterans Day with a parade at 12:30 p.m., followed by a ceremony in Veterans Park around 1 p.m. Veterans Agent Mark Avis said all veterans are welcome to march in the parade.
Warren
Although the town of Warren is not hosting any events of their own, West Brookfield will be sponsoring a Veterans Day breakfast at their Senior Center on Nov. 11. Gary Lapine, director of Veterans Services in Warren, said the breakfast is open to veterans in the surrounding towns such as Warren and Brookfield. The West Brookfield Senior Center is located at 73 Central St.
