HOLYOKE – Delivered Inc. has been given its provisional license by the Cannabis Control Commission (CCC) for a cannabis delivery service that would serve communities within a 10-mile radius of the city.
“We’re beyond excited to be in this position – the Delivery Operator License business model is a game changer, and Delivered Inc. is here to change the cannabis industry in Massachusetts. You will no longer have to trek to a dispensary, get ready to sit back and relax while we deliver cannabis to your door,” Ruben Seyde, the CEO and a co-founder of Delivered Inc., said in a written statement.
Seyde explained to Reminder Publishing the Holyoke-based company now has to fulfill other requirements by the CCC, as well as finish its buildout before it can begin the delivery service. Seyde believes the company should be delivering cannabis products such as flower, edibles and pre-rolls by early summer. The company is only one of nine delivery operations in the commonwealth.
“We are all racing to be first,” he said of the nine delivery services.
He said customers would order products through the delivery service’s website and pay in advance with a debit card. He said there is a “slight chance” that some people could pay with cash.
Initially, Seyde said there would be 10 jobs created and he anticipates that in 2023 that would increase to 20 to 25 jobs. He is hoping that circulation reach will grow as well to 15 to 20 miles in the future.
He noted in California 20 percent of all legal cannabis sales are home delivered. He believes a “significant chunk” of Massachusetts sales will be delivered as well.
Seyde began his effort to enter the cannabis business three years ago through the CCC’s social equity program, which was designed to allow local and minority entrepreneurs to enter the cannabis business.
“The program did not live up to its potential,” he said. Seyde added, “Definitely this has been a long process.”
He noted that New York, which recently legalized cannabis, set aside a $100 million for a social equity program to open business opportunities.
