Trunk or Treats return to three communities on Oct. 28

Date: 10/18/2022

HOLYOKE/SOUTH HADLEY/GRANBY – Looking to get some trick-or-treating reps in before Halloween? Trunk or Treat is returning for the Holyoke, South Hadley and Granby communities on Oct. 28.

The Holyoke Trunk or Treat event is being put on through Holyoke Community College (HCC) and will be hosted in campus parking lot M. The change in lot location is to allow for more space for families and make better use of lighting as the day ends.

Holyoke trick-or-treaters are encouraged to go trunk to trunk for candy and other treats as they visit the different cars decorated and dressed for Halloween.

Already 40 participants have signed up and will have decorated their cars in their best Halloween look. Registration is now closed but the registered cars will be judged and awards will be handed out for the best car decorations.

Chair of HCC’s early childhood education program Sheila Gould has worked on setting up the event and hopes to see Holyoke’s best Halloween costumes and trick or treaters.

“People go all out,” said Gould. “It’s always a great night and it’s really fun to be able to have families on our campus.”

South Hadley and Granby will be combining communities for their Trunk or Treat celebration the same night from 5:30-7:30 p.m. On behalf of the South Hadley and Granby Chambers of Commerce, the communities are invited to the Beers and Story South Hadley Funeral Home at 646 Newton St. in South Hadley.

Local businesses will have decorated trunks and tents with goodie bags for trick or treaters. The event is free to the public and will take place rain or shine.

If the weather is good, parking for attendees will be available in the Beers & Story lot as well as at Veryl’s Autobody next door. If it rains, the event will have a drive through format and will have volunteers on site to help guide families through the event.
