Date: 7/11/2023

SOUTH HADLEY — Buttery Brook Park will be the site for festival and fun as Hideaway Circus will present: Stars Above: An All American Open Air Circus.

Stars Above is a captivating outdoor circus show bringing together the enchantment of a classical circus and the thrill of a contemporary performance. This family-friendly spectacle is perfect for all ages created by the innovative minds of Hideaway Circus founders Josh and Lyndsay Aviner.

The outdoor event will have two shows, Tuesday, July 25 at 7 p.m., and Wednesday, July 26 at 4 p.m. The “Stars Above” production will perform under a canopy with a circular state and aerial rig. Tickets are $25 for general admission, $45 for reserved seating and $65 for VIP.

Recreation Director Andy Rogers said there has been town efforts in increasing events within Buttery Brook Park and Hideaway Circus’s interest to come play through South Hadley was a perfect match.
The visit from Hideaway Circus will coincide with a week packed full of fun events at Buttery Brook Park that include different events almost every day. The South Hadley Farmers’ Market will be open on Wednesday, July 26 as they continue through their season.

The following day is the much anticipated Big Rig Day on Thursday, July 27 from 10 a.m. to noon where families are invited to Buttery Brook Park to check out all the different tractors, trucks and other big rigs for a morning of fun. Children will be able to sit inside big rigs and public safety vehicles, and there will also be other activities available.

Friday, July 28 will feature another iteration of South Hadley’s cruise night as well.

“We’ve got all this great stuff. I would say that we’re really working hard on adding all kinds of events almost year-round and the circus we’re hoping is going to be one of the highlights of our summer,” Rogers said.

Rogers said the town continues to focus on having fun activities and events planned for the park. He added that they are continuing to apply for state grants in order to continue building on what they have with the park.

“We’re hoping that this is really well attended. We’re hoping to keep making improvements at the park, to keep expanding and doing really cool things,” Rogers said.

He added he hopes the weather prevails for the jam-packed week but most importantly he hopes families come out and have fun and enjoy their time at the park.
