SPRINGFIELD — The owners of Dewey’s Jazz Lounge have established a new business venture in downtown Springfield by opening All American Sports Bar, Grill & Patio.
The upscale sports bar at 459 Dwight St. offers a dining and sport-watching experience that the city did not have, said Food and Beverage Director Ashlee Nadeau.
The idea of owners Kenny Lumpkin and Dr. Mark Markarian, as explained by Nadeau, was to bring craft cocktails from the jazz lounge to the sports bar. With a shared passion of uniting the community, Nadeau said All American does that “regardless of the team you are rooting for.”
On April 12, All American officially opened to the public. From 8 p.m. to 12 a.m., DJ Prince provided entertainment for customers enjoying a drink or bite to eat.
With a full bar and kitchen menu, some of its offerings include signature sports themed cocktails and traditional game day food such as hot dogs, hamburgers, sandwiches, wings, flatbreads, desserts and more.
Before the grand opening, Nadeau said there was a “soft opening” for a few weeks prior.
“The drinks are selling much better than I expected,” as people are purchasing more than just beer, she shared.
“The greatest thing over the past couple weeks is seeing regulars and new faces,” Nadeau said. Although they are bringing in customers from Dewey’s, they are also expanding, she added.
Prior to becoming a sports bar and grill, the space on Dwight Street was a pizza place and before that, the Chessmen Lounge.
“They rebuilt the entire inside,” said Nadeau.
Renovating the 2,000-square-foot space took longer than expected as construction began in November 2022, she added. Unlike Dewey’s, Nadeau said Lumpkin and Markarian were looking to own the building rather than rent it.
Additional plans for the space include building out a 3,000-square-foot patio. The patio is slated to have a stage which will welcome live music and more. Nadeau said they plan to have a DJ every Thursday through Saturday.
All American Sports Bar, Grill & Patio is open Wednesday through Monday, 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. It is closed on Tuesdays.
