SPRINGFIELD – The sisterhood of Temple Beth El will be hosting their annual outdoor craft fair on Aug. 29. The fair will take place in the parking lot of Temple Beth El at 979 Dickinson St. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The fair will feature crafters and vendors, a raffle and food such as hot dogs, chips and drinks. According to Donalyn Gross, one coordinator for the fair, it will be hosted rain or shine. Crafters will be selling jewelry, art, tie dye items and Gross said she will be selling her own maple pecan and maple walnut syrups.
The Sisterhood Craft Fair is still seeking crafters and vendors to join. The deadline for anyone interested to reach out to Ann Lab, another coordinator for the fair, is about a week before it takes place.
“We always have room. It’s a big parking lot, so there’s no problem with that. We could host up to 40 people if we had to,” said Lab.
The cost for a crafter to set up at the fair is $35. Lab said that the money from the fair will go toward the sisterhood and supporting their missions. They will also have a raffle where each vendor has donated an item to be raffled off during the fair.
“It’s not costing them a lot and they’re getting to sell what they made, but the $35 adds up if you have 10 to 15 vendors. It’s a nice thing to have,” said Lab. “Our sisterhood is celebrating its 100th year. What the sisterhood does is it has events, and it raises money for the hungry and different organizations to help.”
Gross said that this is one of many craft fairs coming up in the future. She encouraged people to attend to get a start on their holiday shopping.
“We just look forward to it every year. There’s a lot of craft fairs coming up for this coming holiday season and we’re hoping this Delta variant doesn’t mess everything up,” said Gross. “Start your holiday shopping early. It’s a great idea.”
