SPRINGFIELD – Jia Bo, the president and chairman of CRRC announced on June 8 the Springfield-based rail car manufacturing plant completed producing pilot rail cars for testing for the subway system in Los Angeles, CA. In 2016, the company received a $647 million contract to produce the cars for that subway.
Jim Gallagher, the chief operations officer for the Los Angeles Metro said the new cars were “desperately needed.”
In total the Springfield plant will produce 64 cars for the mass transit system.
CRRC currently has 386 employees of which 227 are union members. The company has announced it is planning to add 60 more union jobs.
