Party Floral offers surplus of goods at new Springfield location

Date: 9/13/2023

SPRINGFIELD — From everyday items to holiday supplies, Party Floral offers a plethora of goods at its newest location, 1101 Boston Rd.

Owners Prashant Ved and his wife, Bhavana, officially re-opened the store on Aug. 25 with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

“I was working for A Dollar [& Deals] in the Eastfield Mall,” Ved said. “They closed [because of the mall’s closure and awaited demolition] and we opened our own party store under the name of Party Floral. We didn’t want to leave Springfield and decided to stay local.”

Party Floral offers decor for a Sweet 16, wedding, baby shower, birthday and other occasions.
Ved said they sell “all kinds of balloons” including the professional arches, gift bags, artificial flowers, glasses and centerpieces, to name a few items.

“A lot of people think we are just a party or floral store,” Ved said, which deters some people from coming in. He assured that they have every day and seasonal merchandise as well, with holiday products coming soon.

Since moving to Boston Road, Ved said business has been steady, with most occurring on the weekends.

“People now know we are here [and we are] getting [foot] traffic,” Ved added.

In addition to the Veds, the business currently has one other employee. As business picks up, Ved said, he is hoping to hire more.

State Rep. and mayoral candidate Orlando Ramos (D-Springfield), whose previous City Council service included representing Ward 8, in which the former Eastfield Mall area and the store’s current location both reside, attended Party Floral’s grand opening. He said, “Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Prashant Ved and the entire Party Floral family. Small businesses are the heartbeat of our city. I’m glad to see that they were able to remain in Springfield and find an even better location for their expansion.”

Party Floral is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
