SPRINGFIELD — Forest Park residents gathered at the Springfield Elks Lodge 61 on Aug. 1 for National Night Out, “America’s Night Out Against Crime.” The night was celebrated across the city in several other neighborhoods, including Mason Square, the North End, Liberty Heights and Indian Orchard. The East Springfield Neighborhood Council’s National Night Out is scheduled for Aug. 15 at Marshall Roy Field. National Night Out is a nationwide program that launched in 1984, to build community and promote police-community partnerships to improve neighborhood safety and establish caring places to live.
