Springfield Colleen selected

SPRINGFIELD — Caitlyn Feeley was crowned the 2023 Springfield Parade Committee Colleen at the committee’s annual ball on Feb. 11.

A capacity audience filled a ball room at the Springfield Sheraton for the event. Feeley lives in Palmer and was selected by a panel of three judges to be this year’s colleen. She is studying mortuary science and funeral service directing at Goodwin College and works at the chief administrative officer at Tylunas and Ratell Funeral Homes.

Her court includes Meghan Curley of Springfield, Ayden-Maeve Bradley of East Longmeadow, Nora Doyle of Wilbraham and Kiley Arsenault of Wilbraham.

All members of the court received a genuine Irish wool sweater, scarf, sash and jewelry. Feeley as colleen received a tiara and a free trip to Ireland. She and her court will make numerous appearances in the next year and will march in the Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade next month.

Springfield City Councilor and attorney Michael Fenton was announced as the parade marshal. Fenton said to Reminder Publishing as a life-long resident of Hungry Hill, being named parade marshal was “a tremendous honor.”

Also announced were the winners of awards given by committee. The John and Agnes Burke award went to Eammon Burke and Michael Ireland. The Paul G. Caron award winner is the current president of the committee and long-time volunteer Siobhan Cullen and The Mary B. Troy award winner is Nathan Bill’s Bar and Restaurant.
