SPRINGFIELD — City officials and employees gathered at Springfield City Hall on Dec. 1, World AIDS Day, to bring awareness to the epidemic by raising a flag. An annual event that began in 1988, World AIDS Day honors those who died while also serving as a reminder of the still existing HIV-related stigma and a show of commitment to working toward eliminating HIV as a public health threat.
