WESTFIELD/SOUTHWICK – With thousands of people across the country set to make fitness resolutions for the New Year, local gyms are offering discounted rates and specials for residents who want to get into shape to start the year.
In Southwick and Westfield, plenty of gyms are cutting the price and offering special discounts to kickstart residents’ fitness goals for 2020. Body Fit Warehouse located at 320 College Hwy. in Southwick is offering two separate deals for the New Year, according to its Facebook page. For starters, they are offering 30 days of 24/7 gym access with eight personal training sessions for $99 and that deal ends on Jan. 31. They are also offering a referral special where members can refer a friend to the gym for a free 60 minute personal training session.
Leighton King, one of the owners of CrossFit TLA located at 809 College Hwy. in Southwick, said they are offering discounts on six of their different programs for their winter specials. The discounts include two months of unlimited visits for $149, 25 percent off of all foundations classes, and a nutrition coaching program for $50 a month that requires a three month commitment.
At 4 Coleman Ave. in Westfield, CrossFit Swarm will be hosting a special free introductory class for any residents looking to get into shape this year. The listing on CrossFit Swarm’s Facebook page explains that the class is meant to give people an opportunity to speak with a coach and determine their starting point before beginning a workout regiment.
The Westfield YMCA at 67 Court St. will also be taking part in the New Years’ discounts by striking its $50 new membership fee for the entire month. Ryan Levine with the Westfield YMCA said that in addition to removing the new member fee, they will also be holding a community open house event on Jan. 20 to show interested residents their facility and what they have to offer.
Levine added that while it may be hard to stick to fitness resolutions, membership tends to drop the most once the summer months come around. He also explained that the Y works hard with its members to make sure they keep coming back.
“It takes 22 days to make a habit, so we are working with our members to make sure they are more comfortable and confident in their workouts and want to keep coming back for more and continue to be motivated beyond the month,” he said.
With deals throughout the region on gym memberships, local residents have plenty of options when trying to select which gym or program best fits their resolutions for the New Year.
