Curling for fun on a frozen pond

Date: 12/19/2013

A safely frozen pond opens the door for a variety of winter sports including ice-skating, pond hockey, ice fishing and curling – yes curling!

For those who may not be familiar with the sport of curling, it is in its simplicity a matter of sliding a 42-pound granite stone down the ice and attempting to have it come to rest closer to the button (center of circle) than your opponent’s stone. Search online: curling 101 YouTube.

This fun-filled sport can be done on an outdoor ice rink or a frozen pond with improvised, homemade curling stones. Search online: homemade curling stones.

This is just another way of bringing the community together by introducing another reason to venture out-of-doors during the winter season and sharing some quality time with neighbors and friends.
