Falling in love with tennis

We have high hopes that the children of East Longmeadow will fall in love with tennis at an early age and stay with it during their school years and beyond. Although a high school team sport, tennis highlights individual efforts more than other school sports and those who excel at it stand out more for college recruitment and scholarship awards. Past students have played at the collegiate level.

Other Western Mass high school tennis teams excel because they start young, concentrate on only tennis, and play year round. This makes a huge difference by the time you reach high school. If more kids from East Longmeadow start young and make it their passion, we could and would be more competitive. It is a phenomenal sport which should be promoted by parents. It can be played from age 3 to 93 for sport, exercise, competition and just enjoyment.

Please get out and support the capital improvement projects slated for the tennis courts at the May 2012 town meeting.
