Fundraising for opportunity

Catherine Lupien, age 9, daughter of Susan Lupien of Springfield and Peter Lupien of Westfield has been recognized for the 2007 National Young Scholars Program (NYSP) being held this summer.

Catherine is a fourth grader, at Sabis International Charter School in Springfield, and is an honor roll student. In addition to Catherine's scholastic achievement, she also enjoys singing, piano and ballet. She has a great passion for reading and learning. She also serves her church community as an alter server, greeter, and is a member of the children's choir.

Catherine Lupien has been selected to attend this special program which acknowledges young leadership and offers motivation for continuing academic excellence to young scholars from a variety of backgrounds and will benefit her throughout her education and beyond. The NYSP will provide Catherine an "unparalleled opportunity to learn and apply new concepts in an accelerated, interactive, and intellectually stimulating environment outside the school classroom".

The NYSP is sponsored by the National Center for Early Academic Excellence; an independent educational organization dedicated to the early identification, motivation and inspiration of America's most promising elementary school students. In order for Catherine to participate, she must raise $2,000 for this unique opportunity. Anyone wishing to contribute to Catherine attending this Program should send their gift to Peoples' Savings Bank, 1900 Wilbraham Road, Springfield, MA 01119.

All gifts will be greatly appreciated and acknowledged by Catherine. Upon completion of this Program Catherine will receive an official National Young Scholars Program Certificate of Achievement and we will do another press release.
