Couple thanks good Samaritans for finding tires

Date: 4/6/2010

To the residents of Chicopee:

I am writing to inform you that tonight, you were made proud.

My husband and I were in the area to honor my mother-in-law's last wishes of being spread over the Berkshire Mountains. Upon heading home to New Jersey in time for our children to see the Easter Bunny, we realized we were in desperate need of tires. There was absolutely no way that we would make it 20 miles, let alone home, since we could see the threads on the front tires. Being Saturday night before Easter Sunday, nothing was open. As a last resort, I went into a local pizza place hoping someone would know where to get tires at this time of night. Not only were the employees sympathetic, every single person that worked in that store tried to find help for us. The delivery guys were on their i-Phones calling every local tire shop. The owner called a few friends trying to find us tires. And, two hours later and several phone calls, we were on the road with tires heading home to our children. I don't know the names of the people who were kind enough to help us, but I do know they are at Zanto Pizza, 1890 Memorial Dr.

In this day in age when we are all consumed with our own busy lives, these individuals showed their kindness to help two out-of-state strangers. The best way I know how to thank them is to send this letter to your readers and encourage them to patronize this eatery. These young but thoughtful people showed the character of your town, and we will forever be grateful! Please make sure you thank them by visiting their shop, as they represent you, too!

With great appreciation,

Betsy and Jay Turgeon
