The Springfield City Council recently wrote a letter to Mayor Domenic Sarno criticizing him for having a “lack of diversity” among his department heads. In the 382 years of Springfield’s existence we have had a lack of minorities as high ranking officials and we have never had a minority individual as mayor, however, for the past 80 years we have been under the authority of the Democratic Party.
Democrats, how dare you call yourselves the party of diversity when you are the ones to blame for this situation. You are the reason the people are not equally represented. You are the reason our city has turned into a massive social and economic crisis. We have a School Committee that is prominently Democrat and has done nothing to help our children’s failing education.
We have a city council that is prominently Democrat and has done nothing to promote the well-being of our community. Last but not least a Democratic administration: Mayor Sarno, you continue to let crime and social injustice run rampant throughout our city, you failed to correct the trash fee that we the people have spoken out on countless times, and you let MGM turn their back on us before the project even began.
The only diversity our city leaders deliver is the diversity of failed promises. The young and naive city councilors are calling for racial diversity, but this is nothing more than a liberal trick of disguise and emotional blackmail. Springfield is not just a city. We are a community of Blacks, Whites, Latinos, and Asians. We are a community of Italians, Irishmen, Poles, and Germans. We are a community of Christians, Jews, Muslims, and Atheists. We are a community of Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Libertarians, Green Party members, and Tea Party members. We all demand representation. Councilor Ramos, if you are going to demand diversity, that diversity should represent us all, not just your false agenda. A vote for Ramos will result in the same lack of diversity and corrupt Democratic system we have now. It’s time for change. It’s our turn.
