Blue Sox sign two

Date: 10/9/2015

SPRINGFIELD – The Valley Blue Sox got off to a fast start this past week, announcing the acquisition of it's first two players for the 2016 season – right-handed pitcher Endy Morales (fmr. Sanchez) of West Virginia and catcher Erik Ostberg of Hartford University. Both are products of Western Massachusetts, hailing from Holyoke and Florence, respectively.

“If you look at the successful college baseball programs around the country – spring, summer or otherwise – they all share one thing in common and that's a strong local pipeline of talent,” Blue Sox General Manager Hunter Golden said. “If we feel that they're an elite talent and they're in our area - it's our responsibility as an organization to make sure that they end up as Blue Sox. We've had our eyes on both Erik and Endy for the past 2-3 years and made acquiring both a priority for this offseason.”

Morales was rated the No. 3 prospect to come out of the state of Massachusetts according to Perfect Game USA. He was ranked No. 2 in the state by Max Preps.

Ostberg won the Future’s Collegiate League batting crown posting a .348/.430/.438 slash line – walking 23 times and striking out only 13 times.
