Connors helps Springfield College volleyball stay perfect

CHICOPEE – Ashlee Connors of Springfield recorded five kills, six service aces and three digs as the Elms College women’s volleyball team topped Pine Manor 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-15) on Sept. 29.

Keene wins MASCAC Rookie of the Week

WESTFIELD – Westfield State freshman Brodie Keene of Feeding Hills was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Rookie of the Week.

The 5-foot-10 forward scored two goals in the Owls 5-3 victory over Fitchburg State Saturday at Alumni Field.

After Fitchburg took a 1-0 lead midway through the first half, Keene evened the match with his first goal of the game, blocking an attempted clear from a Falcon defender before beating the keeper one-on-one in the box.

Keene buried his second goal to give Westfield a 5-2 lead in the 79th minute, one-timing a precise through pass from sophomore James Murphy into the back of the net.

MASCAC recognizes Rackliffe a Player of the Week

BUZZARDS BAY – Framingham State women’s volleyball player and Feeding Hills native Alycia Rackliffe was named MASCAC Player of the Week.

She averaged 17 kills and 5.3 blocks with a .409 hitting percentage in a 3-0 week for the Rams, including 18 kills, three solo blocks and seven block assists in the 3-1 win over Westfield State, 19 kills with four blocks in the 3-1 win over Salve Regina University and 14 kills with two blocks in the 3-0 win over Suffolk University.
