Dutille signs National Letter of Intent to play for Temple

Date: 3/13/2014

EAST LONGMEADOW – With her East Longmeadow High School (ELHS) teammates, coaches, family and friends by her side, senior soccer player Victoria Dutille recently put pen to paper and signed a National Letter of Intent to play Division 1 soccer for Temple University.

“I’m so excited to represent this team and this town at Temple University and at the Division 1 level,” Dutille said. “I really want to thank my family, friends and coaches for all their support.”

Dutille, a four-year varsity player for ELHS Spartan Girls Soccer, plays club soccer for Oakwood Soccer Club out of Glastonbury, Conn.

She was selected as a Massachusetts Olympic Development Player for five years, made Second Team All Western Massachusetts selection her junior year and served as team captain her senior year at ELHS.

Dutille suffered a foot injury before the start of her senior year, which kept her out until the team’s first playoff game in November. “It was devastating not being able to be on the field with my teammates, especially my senior year,” she said.

After an official visit to Temple in January, Dutille said she knew she would be an Owl. She verbally committed the week following her visit, and on Feb. 28, signed her National Letter of Intent, making it official.

Dutille said of Temple, “I found my perfect fit in the city of Philadelphia, the soccer team, and the opportunities of being an engineer at Temple. I’ll be in the Honors Program so I will have smaller classes and I’ll be able to get tutors and extra academic help through the amazing academic advising program for athletes. I wanted the opportunity to play at the highest level I could and I look forward to the competition and this team and conference will provide me. Also, the team is made up of a great group of girls who are so close and made me feel very welcome on my visit.”
