Kelly is Merchandiser of the Year

SOUTHWICK Hope Kelley, head professional at The Ranch Golf Club, Southwick, has been named the 2007 PGA Merchandiser of the Year at a public golf course by the Connecticut Section of The PGA of America.

The Merchandiser of the Year

Award recognizes excellence in business and merchandising at private, public and resort golf facilities. Kelley was honored, along with the other award winners, at the section's 13th Annual Special Awards Banquet on Dec. 3 at Foxwoods Resort Casino.

Kelley, 41, is a 12-year member of The PGA and has overseen the golfoperations at The Ranch since 2004. Prior to her employment there, she wasthe head professional at Blue Fox Run Golf Course from 1997-2000, the first woman head professional in the Connecticut Section. She was also employed at Tower Ridge Country Club, Avon, Conn.; Willowbend, Mashpee, Mass; and The Denver Country Club, Denver, Colo.

Kelley, who resides in Westfield, won the 2001 Massachusetts Women's Open. In 2001, she played on the Futures Tour, and in 2002, she caddied on the LPGA Tour. Her philosophy is of using creativity and flexibility in the golf shop and a sincere interest in the needs of her customers have resulted in her success as an outstanding merchandiser.
