Local swimmers compete at Smith College

The Aquabears swim team participated in a swim meet held at Smith College on Nov. 24-26. Over four hundred swimmers representing sixteen teams took part in the three day annual swim competition.

The Aquabears team, based in Suffield, Connecticut, is made up of swimmers of all ages from Connecticut and Western Massachusetts.

The following swimmers were top six overall high point winners in their age groups: Randi Katz (12) and Hannah Katz (10) of Longmeadow. Natalie and Jack also broke meet records. Eight Aquabears swimmers captured first place in individual events and many swimmers recorded personal best times.

The Aquabears will be hosting the Santa Claus Classic swim meet December 15-17 at Suffield Academy. A portion of the entry fees will be donated to the Connecticut Children's Medical Center Pediatric Oncology Unit.

The Aquabears offer swim programs for all ability levels, and are currently accepting applications. For more information about the team, please visit the team's web site at www.bearswim.com or contact the head coach, Jon Levine, at Aquabears@cox.net.
