Paige earns NE-10 honors

SOUTH EASTON – American International College baseball’s sophomore starting pitcher Harrison Paige of Springfield was selected to the weekly Northeast-10 baseball honorable mention announced by the league on March 31.
Paige won his only decision last week, shutting out Adelphi 1-0 over nine innings while striking out three and walking a single batter, lowering his earned run average to 2.05.
Nassar wins at No. 2 doublesSPRINGFIELD – Longmeadow’s PJ Nassar was part of a team that picked up a thrilling 9-7 win at No. 2 doubles helping the Golden Bears take a 2-1 advantage going into the singles competition in the Western New England men’s tennis team’s 8-1 win over Wentworth on April 1.
Nassar also helped capture an 8-1 doubles win in a 9-0 victory over Curry College.
Khampaeng helps WSU past Salem StateWESTFIELD – Westfield State University women’s lacrosse goalie Mimi Khampaeng of Hampden recorded 10 saves as the Owls earned 14-7 victory over Salem State University.
She also recorded 10 saves in a 17-13 loss to Mount Holyoke College on March 26.
Pirog scores twice in Elms lossCHICOPEE – Elms College women’s lacrosse player Jillian Pirog of Ludlow netted a pair of goals, but Bard College used a balanced attack to earn a to a 19-8 victory over the Blazers on April 1.
Pirog also netted two goals in an 18-8 loss to Fitchburg State University on March 27.
WNE crushes Nichols, CurrySPRINGFIELD – Emily Castleman of Wilbraham allowed five goals while making four saves to go along with two ground balls in the cage for the WNE women’s lacrosse team in a 20-8 win over Nichols College on April 1.Shelly Trebbe, also of Wilbraham, recorded three assists.
Castleman also picked up the win in net after making six stops in an 18-7 victory against Curry College on March 28.
