Paige named to Northeast-10 All-Conference team

SOUTH EASTON – Harrison Paige of Springfield was selected to the Northeast-10 Baseball All-Conference third-team on May 7, going 4-4 with a 2.39 earned run average. He struck out 42 in 71.2 innings, walking just 10 and allowing 19 earned runs off 62 hits. Paige hurled six complete games, three shutouts.

Abad’s hat trick helps Pride power past WNE
SPRINGFIELD – Devin Abad of East Longmeadow tallied three goals as the 13th-ranked Springfield College men’s lacrosse team defeated cross-town rival Western New England University (WNE) 19-13 in the first round of the NCAA Division III Championship tournament on May 7.

Abad also registered two assists, but the Pride fell to Cortland State 14-10 in the second round.

Commonwealth Coast Conference and Eastern College Athletic Conference New England Offensive Player of the Week Keegan Dudeck of Longmeadow had two goals and two assists for WNE.

Local competes at New England Championships
WESTFIELD – Andrew Deane of Springfield was part of the American International College 4x400 meter relay team that took sixth (3:14.73) as the men’s track and field team placed 10th of 38 teams at the NEICAAA Championships on May 10.

Pride baseball falls in ECAC semis
SPRINGFIELD – East Longmeadow’s Frank Calabrese went 1 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored a 5-2 win over visiting Framingham State in the Eastern College Athletic Conference quarterfinals on May 7.

Calabrese also went 2 for 3 in a 3-0 loss to Roger Williams in the semifinals on May 10.
