Springfield Falcons release schedule

SPRINGFIELD – The Springfield Falcons recently announced their 76 game regular season schedule set to open on Oct. 10 at the MassMutual Center.

The Falcons embark on their 22nd season of American Hockey League action against the Hershey Bears at 7 p.m. The 76-game schedule features family-friendly home dates with 12 Friday games, 12 Saturday games, and 10 Sunday games. In addition, two-mid week contests during school vacation weeks are included as well.

Interstate-91 rival, the Hartford Wolf Pack, visit the Falcons four times beginning on Jan. 15. Providence visits the MassMutual Center seven times with the schedule featuring four sets of back-to-back games between the Falcons and Bruins.

Other highlights to the schedule include the Falcons hosting the Utica Comets for the first time in franchise history on Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. On Oct. 30, the Rochester Americans will play in Springfield for the first time since Nov. 3, 2006.

Single game tickets will go on sale at 9 a.m. on Sept. 28 at the MassMutual Center Box Office and Ticketmaster. In addition, preseason single game seats will also go on sale on Sept. 28 at 9 a.m.

The Falcons will skate against new Atlantic division rival, the Bruins, in a home-and-home set that begins on Oct. 2 at the MassMutual Center at 7 p.m. Springfield will close out the preseason with a 7:05 p.m. faceoff on Oct. 3 at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center.

All seats for the preseason game on Oct. 2 vs. the Providence Bruins are $10.

The Falcons also recently launched a new promotion today called 30 Days of Giveaways that will began on Sept. 1 and conclude on Sept. 30.

Any fan who places a $50 deposit on a ticket plan will be entered to win daily prizes during the month of September. A package holder will have the same number of entries as number of seats they own and must be paid in full by Oct. 1 in order to receive the prize. In addition, a ticket holder is eligible to win multiple prizes.

The month will kick-off with the prize of becoming a “Falcon for a day” that entails signing a one-day contract, receiving a personalized replica jersey and locker stall nameplate. The month’s prizes will close with an opening night VIP experience that includes four tickets to the home opener, a limousine ride to and from the game and dinner at Red Rose with a $150 gift card. Other prizes include two tickets to watch the Arizona Coyotes play the Boston Bruins at the TD Garden, gift cards to local restaurants and Falcons merchandise.

Former Springfield Falcons center Daniel Briere announced his retirement from the NHL on Aug. 17 after 17 seasons with five teams.

Briere, 37, played for the Phoenix Coyotes, Buffalo Sabres, Philadelphia Flyers, Montreal Canadiens and Colorado Avalanche. He scored 307 goals and had 696 points in 973 regular-season games, and had 53 goals and 116 points in 124 Stanley Cup Playoff games.

With the Falcons, Briere was one of the team’s most successful players, posting 217 points in 169 games.
