WNE announces ticket presale events for Springfield game

Date: 8/28/2014

SPRINGFIELD – Western New England University (WNE) athletics officials have announced pre-sale ticket events for the Golden Bear football team’s 2014 season opener at Springfield College in two weeks.

Western New England and Springfield will meet for just the second time on Sept. 5, at the Pride'’s 3,867-seat Stagg Field with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.

WNE has been allotted 500 student tickets and 100 adult tickets to sell on campus before the WNE-Springfield game, making it more convenient for both our students and faculty/staff to purchase tickets for a game that is expected to sellout.

In addition, multiple groups on campus are teaming up to provide bus transportation for our students from the St. Germain Campus Center to Springfield College on game night; details on transportation information will be announced at a later date.

In the first-ever meeting last between the schools separated by just 2 1/2 miles, a Golden Bear Stadium-record crowd of 3,442 (plus 4,000 more watching on the Golden Bear Sports Network) saw visiting Springfield mount a fourth-quarter comeback to squeak past WNE by a 49-40 score.

Pre-sale tickets will be available at the Campus Center mall table from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 1 to 5, while supplies last. WNE students will have their first opportunity to buy tickets at Thursday’s WNE Job Fair at the athletics table.

Ticket prices for the Springfield game are $3 for students and $5 for adults. All students and adults going to the game must purchase a ticket. Tickets will be available for sale at the gate, but it is advised to purchase during the pre-sale.
