WNEC wins Commissioner's Cup

Western New England College completed its final season in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) by winning the Commissioner's Cup for having the best overall men and women's athletic programs in the league during the 2006-07 school year.

The Golden Bears totaled 45 points to outdistance runner-up Emerson who had 30 points. Emmanuel and Johnson & Wales tied for third with 29 points while Suffolk was fifth with 25 points.

Western New England College captured GNAC Championships in baseball, women's cross country, men and women's soccer, and men's tennis this past season while placing second in both the men's cross-country and softball tournaments.

Western New England College was the winner of all three GNAC Commissioner's Cups since the standings started at the beginning of the 2004-05 school year.

The College becomes a member of The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) in September.
