AGAWAM – Thomas Moran, president and CEO of Financial Partners Inc. (FPI) recently presented Leo Morrissey with the 2013 Spirit of FPI Award.

The award is presented to an individual who displays a strong focus on their community and immeasurable volunteerism.

Morrissey began his Farm Credit career in Alma, Mich., as a loan officer. After a few years he moved to Western New York to work as a branch manager/senior loan officer. After eight years in New York, Morrissey and his family moved to Western Massachusetts.

He joined the FPI family in 1994 and has worked as a tester, testing lead, product manager, customer service representative and is now a lead software developer.

Morrissey has been an active member of the Lions Club for 36 years.

After graduating from Michigan State University in 1977, he decided to join the Lions Club and has been involved in a variety of projects throughout the years.

He has recently been busy working on a scholarship program for local high school students. Some of the projects Morrissey has been involved with in the past include helping build a pavilion on Spec Pond in Wilbraham, working on the ice rescue flotation device project and the eye glass donation initiative.

The Spirit of FPI Award was presented to Morrissey at Saratoga Race Track in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., during FPI’s annual event.

In response to receiving the award, Morrissey said, “The Lion’s motto is ‘We serve.’ I have absorbed that motto wholeheartedly and I think it is a great calling. There is a lot to be done in our community and plenty of rewards to be gained by providing service to others in need.”

FPI presented Morrissey with a plaque and a $1,000 award to donate to the charity of his choice – the Melvin Jones Fellowship, which is associated with the Lions Clubs International Foundation.
