Red Cross benefits from International Auto Show

GREATER SPRINGFIELD — Massachusetts chapters of the American Red Cross will be recipients of tornado relief from the Greater Hartford Automobile Association’s Dealer Foundation, with funds raised at the Connecticut International Auto Show.

Discovery Channel’s Champion “Storm Chaser” Sean Casey and his Tornado Intercept Vehicle will make a special Saturday appearance at this year’s show in Hartford, Conn., from Nov. 11 to 13.

The show features hundreds of cars, including the newest model year import and domestic vehicles. Also featured at the show are interactive performances by ComicBot, the eight-foot-tall walking, talking robot seen on “America’s Got Talent,” and a toy drop for We Are the Children, which provides a holiday celebration for any needy child who has no place to spend the holiday.

The Greater Hartford Automobile Association’s Dealer Foundation, which is wholly funded by the Connecticut International Auto Show, will be making donations to Massachusetts chapters of the American Red Cross to assist the victims of the deadly June 1 tornado and the Aug. 28 hurricane.

The Connecticut International Auto Show will take place Nov. 11 and Nov. 12 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Nov. 13 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a special appearance by Casey from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, at the Connecticut Convention Center, 100 Columbus Boulevard, Hartford, Conn.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 6 to 12.
