WNEC School of Engineering to host talk on new engine technology

Date: 2/15/2010

SPRINGFIELD Western New England College (WNEC) School of Engineering will host a symposium on "Greening the Internal Combustion Engine" on Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. in Rivers Memorial Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

The symposium will feature WNEC alumnus Stephen Scuderi, vice president and patent attorney for The Scuderi Group, discussing the development of the company's revolutionary engine design. The split-cycle engine employs a new thermodynamic process known as the Scuderi Cycle, generating better power, higher efficiency and lower emissions than conventional internal combustion engine. A working prototype of The Scuderi Engine will be available for viewing.

The Scuderi Group is based in West Springfield. Scuderi is a 1979 graduate of WNEC School of Law, and holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the college. The presentation is sponsored by WNEC School of Engineering and is taking place in conjunction with National Engineers Week.

WNEC is a private, independent, coeducational institution founded in 1919. Located on an attractive 215-acre suburban campus in Springfield, the college serves 3,700 students, including 2,500 full-time undergraduate students. Undergraduate, graduate and professional programs are offered through the college's Schools of Arts and Sciences, Business, Engineering and Law.
