Flu Clinics
Ban the Bug
Home & Community Health Services, Inc. (H&CHS), Johnson Health Network's visiting nurse agency, has scheduled more than 30 "Ban the Bug" Flu Vaccination Clinics in the weeks and months ahead. Clinics will be held in locations throughout north central Connecticut and beyond.
The nearsest clinics are:
Oct. 21, 12 noon to 4 p.m.
Eastfield Mall, 1665 Boston Road, Springfield
Oct. 23, 2006, 8 a.m. to 12 noon
Bigelow Commons, 55 Main Street, Enfield, CT
The vaccinations will be administered to individuals 18 years of age and older. Virtually anyone who would like to reduce the risk of getting the flu is eligible for vaccination, but there are certain high risk individuals for whom it is especially important. Among these are people 50 years of age and older and people of any age who are coping with certain chronic medical conditions.
While the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices also recommends that pregnant women get vaccinated, H&CHS requires them to present a physician's note in order to ensure maximum safety.
The cost of the flu injection is $29, payable by cash or check. Insurances accepted include Medicare Part B, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield (of CT) and Connecticare.
A complete listing of clinics can be found online at www.johnsonhealthnetwork.com . More information can also be obtained by calling H&CHS at (860) 763-7600.
