Mount Saint Vincent Care Center earns 5-star rating from CMS Date: 1/2/2015 HOLYOKE – Mount Saint Vincent Care Center recently earned a 5-Star quality rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the government agency’s highest possible rating.
Mount Saint Vincent Care Center’s rating is posted on the Nursing Home Compare website, http://www.medicare.gov/nursinghomecompare/search.html, which provides a quality rating for each of the nation’s 15,800 nursing homes that participate in Medicare or Medicaid programs. Following a review of performance in the areas of Health Inspection, Quality Measures, Staffing and RN Staffing, each facility is given an overall rating of between 1 and 5 stars. A 5-Star rating indicates quality that is “much above average.”

The 5-Star designation from CMS is certainly an honor, but more importantly, this recognition validates the success of their efforts,” Daniel P. According to CMS, the 5-Star quality rating system is a consumer service that offers useful information to the public.

Earlier this year, Mount Saint Vincent Care Center earned a deficiency-free survey from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH). To receive such a survey, skilled nursing facilities must successfully complete a rigorous evaluation for compliance with federal and state standards regarding staffing levels, quality of care, safety, food services and cleanliness of facilities. A deficiency-free rating from DPH is one of the top indicators of excellence for skilled nursing facilities.
