Rays of Hope Golf Classic to raise funds for breast cancer recovery
SPRINGFIELD The Springfield Country Club will once again host the Rays of Hope Golf Classic scheduled for June 30. The proceeds of the event will go to Rays of Hope, an organization that partners with Baystate Regional Cancer Program's Comprehensive Breast Center.
The Classic has raised over $73,000 in the past three years in support of the center, whose mission is to promote the understanding of breast diseases and coordinate care for women after a diagnosis has been made. Many of the committee members of the Classic are survivors and are committed in their efforts to find a cure.
The day promises to be filled with fabulous golf and surroundings conducive to supporting a cause that has affected so many of our mothers, spouses, sisters, relatives, friends and coworkers.
This year's honoree is Susan Van Stone, former General Manager of WMAS Radio. She has been a longtime supporter of Rays of Hope, most recently as the 2007 chair for the walk. She has been a participant, a prize donor and media sponsor as well as a three-year breast cancer survivor.
Sponsors for the tournament are needed and more information may be obtained from co-chairs Ann Boyajian at boyajann@aol.com or 348-8350 or Nancy Flynn at 244-4018.
