Volunteer for Relay For Life
Lend a hand today and volunteer for Relay For Life
Walkers, cancer survivors (anyone who has ever been diagnosed with cancer), community leaders, team captains, and dedicated workers are all needed to make the American Cancer Society 2006 Relay For Life of Greater Springfield a reality.
Relay For Life is a unique fundraising event that allows participants from all walks of life including patients, medical support staff, corporations, civic organizations, churches and community volunteers to join together in the fight against cancer. Relay For Life is a team event where participants walk around a track relay style overnight. Teams of cancer-fighting enthusiasts will gather at Springfield College's Blake Track on June 2 and 3 to show their support and dedication.
Volunteers are needed for the event for a wide variety of tasks including placing luminaries, assisting with survivor activities, clean up and set up.
"Relay For Life is as much an awareness raiser about the progress against cancer as it is a fundraiser," said Scott Sarat, Volunteer Committee co-chair. "People who are willing to give their time and energy to this exciting event as volunteers or participants have made a commitment to fight back against this disease and let the community know that cancer can be beat."
