Date: 4/23/2009

Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) is a state-approved real estate school and the Center for Business and Technology (CBT) at STCC will offer "Preparation for the Real Estate Exam," a state-approved course for those interested in becoming licensed real estate salespersons, beginning on May 12.

The CBT has also partnered with the Massachusetts Board of Real Estate Appraisers (MBREA) to offer training to prepare individuals for a career in real estate appraisal. Regulation of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts require that those interested in becoming real estate appraisers pass a licensing exam. In order to qualify to take this exam, individuals must complete a specified number of hours of education in an approved program, such as that offered at STCC, as well as apprenticeship hours working under a licensed appraiser.

Upcoming courses include: basic appraisal principles, basic appraisal procedures, uniform standards of professional appraisal practice (USPAP) and USPAP update.

Space is limited in all programs and interested individuals should go to http://cbt.stcc.edu or call the CBT at 755-4502 or 755-4225.

The CBT at STCC has a program that makes it easy for educators to learn the latest techniques to make podcasts that reinvigorate students' passion for learning. STCC has partnered with ed2go to offer hundreds of online, instructor-facilitated courses and announces the launch of this new offering, "Easy Classroom Podcasting."

This course is part of STCC's growing catalog of more than 300 instructor-facilitated online courses. Through well-crafted lessons, expert online instruction, and interaction with fellow students, participants in these courses gain valuable knowledge at their convenience. Participants have the flexibility to study at their own pace combined with enough structure and support to complete the course and can access the classroom 24/7 from anywhere with an Internet connection.

New sessions of each course begin every month and last six weeks, with two new lessons being released weekly. The courses are entirely Web-based with comprehensive lessons, quizzes, and assignments.
