Lussier to help WBOA kick off its 30th anniversary

Date: 9/6/2011

SPRINGFIELD — Launching its year-long 30th anniversary celebration, The Women Business Owners Alliance of the Pioneer Valley (WBOA) will recognize the legacy of area women in business as well as its standing as one of the longest running professional organizations in Western Massachusetts serving women business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs.

With its first-of-the season September Breakfast networking meeting on Sept. 15 from 7:45 to 9:30 a.m. at the Yankee Pedlar Inn, 1866 Northampton St., Holyoke, WBOA will open the celebratory year with guest speaker, Angela Lussier, an award-winning author and owner of 365 Degrees Consulting.

Lussier, the 2010 WBOA Outstanding New Member of the Year and former WBOA public relations chair, will share her top five secrets for getting started on your “You Tube” journey to success and profits.

YouTube is the #2 search engine with millions of people searching for what business owners have to offer.

Lussier will share ways to harness the power of video to take marketing and communications to a new level, boost Web site traffic, introduce new customers to products and/or services, and market the business owner and/or his or her business in new ways.

She will also highlight case studies of businesses that are capitalizing on this free marketing tool.

Lussier is associate director of alumni career programs at the University of Massachusetts (UMass) Amherst Alumni Association, owner of 365 Degrees Consulting in Springfield, and author of the Seth Godin recommended book “The Anti-Resume Revolution.”

Her advice can be found on Yahoo!, NBC, ABC, The Ladders, and in many career and business books. Speaking engagements and clients include TEDx, Boeing, MassMutual, Comcast, UMass, Westfield State University, and many others.

She was once reprimanded for being “too creative” and is on a mission to help others to stop waiting and start creating their dream job like she did.

WBOA incoming president Eileen Jerome of Jerome’s Party Plus in Westfield, said, “We hope you will attend WBOA monthly breakfast networking meetings and meet area women entrepreneurs, business owners and professionals.”

The cost for breakfast is $15 in advance for members, $18 at the door for members and $20 for non-members.

RSVP preferred by Sept. 11. Register (preferred) at the WBOA’s Meetup.com page or go to www.wboa.org. Those who are interested may also call 827-4182 to RSVP.
