Blueberry Hill School Stringer

by Sarah Glick

Editor's note: Once a month a student from Blueberry Hill Elementary School will be a stringer for Reminder Publications, reporting on topics they want to share.

"Hoorary!" I hear shouts of excitement and enthusiasm. It's that time of year again, with winter break, snow, and games!

"You still must remember the freezing weather and icy grounds outside," states fifth grader Maddie Fitzpatrick. Be cautious, and remember when you go outside to wear a hat (or a winter headband), winter coat, gloves or mittens, and sturdy boots for the ice. If you go in the snow, wear snow pants to stay warm. When you return indoors, if you're still cold, drink one of the best winter drinks: hot chocolate! Lots of people enjoy winter and snow, but some do not enjoy the coldness!

Do you wonder what elementary school children do in the winter? Mrs. Renaud's third grade class couldn't wait to go sledding and have huge snowball fights. "Can you believe that you can go snowboarding on the slopes with your family?" says Colby Daboul, fifth grader at Blueberry Hill School.

Other activities are ice skating with friends, get tickets to watch an ice hockey game, or view a beautiful figure skating performance. Also, you can visit Bright Nights/Bright Lights in Springfield! Finally, children can visit relatives and have lots of fun!

Lots of people have their bags packed and ready to go on vacation. Picture this: skis, snowboards . sitting on top of cars packed full of luggage. Kids are just waiting for that very moment when school gets out so they can hit the slopes. Skiing and snowboarding can be dangerous sports, but they are also very fun. Athletes must learn how to do these sports or a serious injury could result. It doesn't really matter which you choose, because neither is safer than the other.

Winter is a time for everyone, girl or boy, child or adult, to have fun!
