The MacDuffie School proudly announces that English teacher Alun Polga will receive the Pioneer Valley Excellence in Teaching Award on May 5 at the Log Cabin in Holyoke. Each honored teacher will receive a check for $600, an engraved plaque, a three-month membership to a local YMCA, a gift certificate from Westfield State College to be used for graduate or undergraduate work, an invitation from WGBY to take an online course with credit from Westfield State College, a letter of commendation from the Governor and other gifts. Alun shares his enthusiasm, creativity and humor with his students, Kathryn Gibson, MacDuffie s Head of School, said, and his award is well-deserved.
