Could you love Jabba the Mutt?

Jabba the Mutt, as he is affectionately called by the staff of the MSPCA Animal Care and Adoption Center, was surrendered last April when his owners felt they could no longer afford to care for him. Jabba had been living as an outdoor-only dog, along with his brother and mother. Sadly, Jabba's brother would attack him over food, causing Jabba to be both terribly thin and covered in scars. Since arriving at the MSPCA, Jabba has gained weight and has won the hearts of staff, volunteers and visitors. But because he has been kenneled for five long months, Jabba is beginning to lose heart emotionally. His devoted fan club at the MSPCA have decided to pull out all the stops and designate the last week of summer, Sept. 14 - 21, as "Jabba the Mutt Week" in order to find our friend the loving, forever home he desperately wants and deserves.

Jabba will do best and will be happiest in a home where he is the only pet. He is great with older children and loves to lie in their laps. While Jabba is athletic and active at just three years old, he is extremely calm and easygoing in temperament. Jabba loves riding in the car, hiking, wading in the water and ice cream cones! He is a very good listener, and like most pit bulls, very intelligent and eager to please. Jabba comes when called and understands basic commands. We hope to find Jabba a home with an experienced dog family who is willing to commit to him for the rest of his life. Please call or come by the MSPCA Animal Care and Adoption Center on Union Street in Springfield if you are interested in meeting this sweet, young boy. More about Jabba is online at www.mspca.org/wne.
