Springfield JCC to host 'Art From the Heart' camp

Date: 9/5/2010

SPRINGFIELD -- The Art From the Heart 2010 camp at the Springfield Jewish Community Center (JCC) proved to be as educational, inspiring and as much fun as the previous four years.

This year's budding artists created accordion paneled collage journals, tissue paper covered balloon bowls, recycled snack wrapper tote bags, mini triple mount collage cards, silk painted scarves with resist, marbled paper, T-shirt strip necklaces, beaded bracelets, earrings and photo book marks. All this was done in five half days sessions at the popular JCC Art from the Heart week long summer specialty camp. Instructor Cindy Lutz Kornet said "We always try to take each project to another level. One of the ways we do this is with embellishments. For example, the recycled tote had pockets, trims and handles. The students wrapped their tissue paper bowls in ribbons feathers, beads and more." The comment most heard from campers was, "Art camp rocks! "
