SPRINGFIELD — Monday through Friday, with pre and post-camp extension options, the Jewish Community Center (JCC) Day Camps offer summer programs from preschool through high school and overnight camp excursions for third to 10th grades.

With the encouragement and guidance of the JCC's highly-skilled counselors, campers participate in programs and activities that have been designed to foster learning, creativity, teamwork and above all, fun. Instruction from the arts and crafts, music, ropes course and sports specialists will help them discover their hidden talents.

Jewish emphasis

Campers experience a variety of activities with a rich Judaic tradition. These include Israeli culture, music, crafts and games. Each week, campers will participate in a weekly Shabbat celebration, which is comfortable for all faiths.

Health and safety

Camp JCC has an off-site on-call" doctor and a health aide on site during camp hours. Medical forms are required from all campers prior to the start of camp.

Inappropriate behavior

Camp JCC will not tolerate inappropriate language or aggressive behavior. If a camper is expelled from camp for inappropriate behavior, no refunds will be given.

Food service

Campers should bring their own kosher style lunch to camp.

Lunches will be refrigerated. Camp is Peanut Aware with designated "Peanut Free" tables. Camp families will be made aware of severe allergies in their groups. Campers may not share their food.

The JCC will provide a daily afternoon snack. All food and drink served by Camp JCC are kosher. Detailed information is included in the Parent/Guardian Manual which is received at registration.

Pre- and post-camp

Pre and post-camp care are available by registration with the calendar in the Parent/Guardian Manual. Pre-camp runs from 7:30 to 9 a.m., at a cost of $7 per day. Post-camp takes place from 4 to 6 p.m., for $10 per day.

Inclusion camp

The JCC inclusion camp weeks: June 25 to 29, July 2 to 6, Aug. 6 to 10, and Aug. 13 to 17 are for campers who have success in a partial or full inclusive environment with supports.

The staffing ratios are two inclusion campers to one staff member.

Campers will receive daily swim instruction, participate in cooperative games, build social skills and learn self advocacy techniques. An intake and interview

are required prior to registration.

Inclusion campers that require a one-on-one ratio must provide their own or pay an additional fee.

The special needs department will run a substantially separate camp from Aug. 20 to 24.
