Jewish Community Center offers 'Life Lessons' at AIC

SPRINGFIELD — Life Lessons, The William & Margery Sadowsky Center of Adult Learning at the Springfield Jewish Community Center (JCC), has just released its lineup of winter and spring classes, programs and trips.

Upcoming classes include two five-week classes, part of American International College's (AIC) College for Lifelong Learning taught at the JCC — Key Elections in U.S. History beginning March 6 and Descubra la Lengua del Amor (Discover the Language of Love) beginning April 2. This class will prepare students for their next trip to a Spanish speaking country by teaching basic phrases and popular expressions. Don't miss Stuart Greene's new three-week class, Vietnam: The Hot War within The Cold War, beginning March 20.

Those who are prone to headaches may join for an informative presentation "Headache Relief" featuring Baystate Medical Center's neurologist, Dr. Karin Johnson on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. This program is free and open to the public and is co-sponsored by Bay Path College's Kaleidoscope, Perspectives on Culture, Life and Learning.

Think Spring with a group from the JCC when we travel to the Connecticut Flower Show on Thursday afternoon Feb. 23. View beautifully landscaped gardens and explore more than 300 booths overflowing with fresh flowers, plants, gardening books and much more. Trip includes transportation and entrance fee.

Always wanted to take dance lessons? On Feb. 28, Swing lessons will be given from 7 to 8 p.m. and Salsa from 8 to 9 p.m. More advanced classes will start April 3.

Celebrate Purim this year by learning to bake hammantashen with your child or grandchild on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 26.

Each adult/child team will make a dozen to take home along with a ball of dough to complete. Start a new family tradition.

Learn adult and child First Aid and CPR on March 18 and 25 from 9 a.m. to noon and be prepared for emergency situations. Receive Red Cross Certification valid for two years.
