MacDuffie School to host first ever Chocolate Festival

Date: 2/2/2009

SPRINGFIELD The MacDuffie School, a college preparatory school for grades six through 12, announces its first-ever Chocolate Festival, to take place on Feb. 8 from 3 to 5 p.m.

This fun, family event celebrating both chocolate and Valentine's Day is free and open to the public. Taking place in the Arts Building on Ames Hill Drive in Springfield, the Chocolate Festival will follow an informational open house at the school, which runs from 1 to 3 p.m.

Attendees can purchase an array of chocolate desserts, to sample or take home, and a Chocolate Competition, featuring MacDuffie bakers, will allow samplers to choose their favorite desserts. A raffle for gift baskets containing gift certificates, cookbooks and chocolate-themed items will be offered, and an arts showcase and gift shop will feature local artists and their works. MacDuffie art students will create educational displays about chocolate, and musicians will play "music to eat chocolate by."
