| FAMILY SUPPORT FESTIVAL Festival will be held on May 2 at the Best Western Sovereign Hotel & Conference Center, 1080 Riverdale St., W. Springfield from 1 to 7 p.m. Learn about state and generic resources that support children and adults with disabilities and their families. No cost. Light refreshments. There will also be several mini-sessions throughout the event including estate planning and special needs trusts, guardianship, home modifications, benefits for medically fragile children, and family emergency preparedness. RIDES FOR BLOOD DONORS A free Six Flags New England One Day pass will be given to each presenting American Red Cross blood donor at the Greek Cultural Center, 8 Plainfield St., Springfield, on April 16. Hours for the blood drive are noon - 8 pm. Donors are urged to make appointments by calling 1-800-448-3543. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments will have priority. A positive ID is required. Wheels of Love helps seniors who suffer from respiratory disorders, arthritis, cardiovascular disease, have a mobility limitation and difficulty in propelling a standard wheelchair, to receive a powerchair or scooter paid for by Medicare. ASTHMA WALK One out of every ten people in Massachusetts has problems breathing; they cannot participate in strenuous physical activity, or they use an inhaler regularly to ensure that they can breathe normally. On May 5, you are given the opportunity to help make a difference for these people. Come participate in the American Lung Association's Blow the Whistle on Asthma Walk at Forest Park in Springfield MA; you may be walking for a family member, a friend, or a co-worker. This family friendly, 5K walk helps to bring awareness and support to asthma. Asthma takes lives, and the American Lung Association needs everyone's help in controlling asthma within Massachusetts. One hundred and twenty-five of our children are living with asthma right now. Walk for them. Four hundred and eighty-five of our adults are living with asthma right now. Walk for them.
