Wood to host women’s health forum at AsnuntuckDate: 3/11/2016 ENFIELD, CT – A personal trainer is bringing his effort to improve women’s health to a new level in his career.
Ryan Wood, the founder of “Ignite. Excite. Empower” (I.E.E), is presenting a seminar entitled “Healthy Heart/Healthy Minds/Healthy Body” on March 19 at Asnuntuck Community College.
The morning-long presentation features Dr. Brett Nowlan, cardiologist and lipidoligist from Cottage Grove Cardiology; Dr. Ashley Burkman, naturopathy from Connecticut Natural Health Specialists; and Dr. Elaine Ducharme, clinical psychologist from Glastonbury, CT.
Wood told Reminder Publications that one of the messages the seminar will present is there are tests that women can take in their twenties that predict preventable health conditions. He added that many concerns can be positively addressed in older women as well.
He said he wants the activities of I.E.E to be “preemptive.”
He said the focus on cardiovascular issues for the seminar was due to “when you improve the cardiovascular many other things improve.”
He noted people sleep better as well as have greater energy when cardiovascular health is addressed.
Woods has been a personal trainer for 16 years with a client base primarily of women. Since 2004 he has worked on I.E.E. as a way to build awareness about women’s health issues.
He said his organization is not a nonprofit, but its activities support nonprofit organizations. Ten percent of the funds raised through the admission fee for the seminar will be donated to the American Heart Association Go Red for Women walk in May at Look Park in Northampton.
