Casa Cafe offers delicious and daring delights

EAST LONGMEADOW Donuts are so played out as a quick breakfast food. Want to try something different? Try the Casa Cafe , located at 520 North Main St.

Serving only breakfast and lunch, the eatery appears to be the stereotypical cafe small tables, soft lighting, jazz music in the air, with artwork that transports you to the Champs lys es in Paris and with delectable aromas wafting from the kitchen area.

The food available in this "on the go" cafe is what makes it stand out.

While it has the usual flavored bagels and croissants for breakfast, it also offers a wide variety of breakfast sandwiches. For those who enjoy salmon, there's the New York Style Lox (smoked salmon with cream cheese, a tomato slice, red onion and capers, served on a pumpernickel bagel).

For those who want something a bit more Western Massachusetts-style, there are the Cafe Ham and Cafe Bacon sandwiches, each served on a toasted bagel with cheese and eggs.

This reporter greatly enjoyed the Brushetta and Eggs, a mix of scrambled eggs, fresh brushetta (diced tomatoes, olive oil and basil) and mozzerella cheese rolled together in a multigrain wrap.

The caf uses only real eggs in all its dishes.

For lunch, Casa Cafe has salmon, tuna, prosciutto, chicken, turkey, roast beef, pork, sirloin steak and vegetarian sandwiches. Four of these are the grilled panini sandwiches. Full lunch plates include shrimp, two different preparations of chicken, pork and New York sirloin.

Salads and a soup du jour are also available.

The Case Cafe is open seven days a week: Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
