Yacht Club helps protect Conn. River

LONGMEADOW The Pioneer Valley Yacht Club in Longmeadow, as part of its 50th Anniversary celebration, made a donation to the Connecticut River Watershed Council (CRWC) in support of CRWC's efforts to protect the Connecticut River and its environs.

The Council's Executive Director Chelsea Gwyther recently provided an update to the Club's Board of Governors on ongoing efforts to improve water quality in the River and other ways in which citizens can be more actively involved in initiatives to preserve the River.

"We are very supportive of CRWC's efforts, and we look forward to working closely with them on projects here on the Connecticut River," said current Club commodore Deane Olmsted of Longmeadow.

"We have one of the most scenic spots on this part of the River, and our members have worked hard over the years to help out in the efforts to clean up the river," Olmsted added.
